Cultural Bridging as a Remedy for Neocolonialism
Part 2
On June 4th, 2023, individuals from around the world got together on a bilingual Zoom call to discuss solutions for the division created when good-intending people occupy land in a foreign country and isolate themselves from their neighbors. The result is a phenomenon known as neo-colonialism.
While most of these people and projects have the exact opposite at heart when they begin their efforts, the trap of occupying land to build an eco-project without sufficient investigation and integration with the local population and their culture can result in resistance, resentment, and further economic and cultural alienation.
As you watch this video, take notes, not with interest, but with determination to shift that paradigm where you live.

The Wordly software used to provide translations for this bilingual conversation was not cheap. I’d also like to provide edited subtitles in both languages, which will require hiring an editor to translate and edit the transcripts of a three-hour conversation. Also not cheap. Special thanks to Randall Saborio for helping to mediate the call.

Cultural Bridging as a Remedy for Neocolonialism
Part 1
This was an inspiring group discussion that took place during our Regenerative Business Incubator event on November 24-27, 2022. Diana Chaves and Francisco Grau hosted the discussion.
This was our first attempt at live-streaming an event, and we learned a lot. Even though the audio/video quality isn’t the best, the discussion was enlightening and is worth a watch. This is a crucial conversation for us to be having right now, worldwide.
We’ll be hosting a bi-lingual follow-up conversation, open to the public, on June 4th, 2023, from 1-4 PM. We’d love to have you join us!
